Respite Services

Cecilia Mullaney - Program Director

Alisha Petty - Respite Coordinator

What is Respite?

Dear Parent,

We, at Solano Parent Network (SPN), consider it a tremendous opportunity to serve your family.

Respite simply means ‘short break’. Our ‘childcare’ contracts are designed from three (3) months to nine (9) months, maximum. There is no limit to the number of times you may apply for Respite, however, each referral will be treated as if it were new, and may require a period of waiting before services continue.

Respite Services are made available to you through the Solano County Mental Health (SCMH) department. SCMH pays for our services on a short term basis, in order to give your family, time to make long-term decisions.

How Can I Use Respite?

Each contract for respite provides between 16 and 25 hours, per month (as determined by the county and the Respite Coordinator).

The hours may be used monthly or accumulated, by the family, for three (3) month intervals. After three months, the time will begin from the amount specified in the contract.

Respite hours may be utilized in the following manner.

Individual Respite - a “babysitter” for a few hours one evening. (minimum 3 hours)

Friday Night - age appropriate, bi-weekly, group night of activities, pizza and videos.

“Respite is defined as

a short break.”

Art & Drama Club - limited group, exploring different mediums to create individual and collective projects.

Athletic Club - limited group, participating in seasonal, team - type, sports activities.

Saturday Outings - fieldtrips to various locations within the area.

Girls & Boys Groups - gender specific, client only groups designed to let them develop who they are while exploring enriching activities.

Sibling Group - monthly group for only the siblings of our clients. This group focuses on building the confidence and self esteem of the siblings.
